Dianon is the largest anatomic pathology testing facility within the LabCorp system, reporting 300,000+ test results annually. The Shelton facility is a more than 80,000 sq. ft. facility that employs 300+ people focused on enhancing the patient and customer experience with LabCorp. Shelton offers testing in the departments of hematopathology, uropathology, dermatopathology, gastrointestinal pathology, general surgical pathology, cytology and clinical trials.


LabCorp is currently seeking a Medical Director to lead their GI subspecialty group. Reporting to the Senior Medical Director who oversees both Dianon and Integrated Oncology, this subspecialty medical director is responsible for the accurate and timely evaluation of anatomic GI specimens tested at Dianon Pathology. The position provides oversight for the GI testing areas and assures compliance with quality, regulatory, and safety guidelines/standards. This individual will also participate with key LabCorp scientists in regular meetings to evaluate new diagnostic technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and direction to the gastrointestinal and liver pathology testing areas
  • Individual diagnostic evaluation and case sign-out of gastrointestinal and liver pathology specimens
  • Assure compliance with quality, regulatory, and safety guidelines/standards
  • Oversight and assurance of accurate and timely evaluation of anatomic specimens tested
  • Play a key leadership role in collaborations with LabCorp scientists to evaluate new diagnostic technology
  • Maintain an effective working relationship with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies, administrative offices, and the medical community
  • Assures good laboratory practice (GLP) and compliance with applicable accrediting and regulatory agencies
  • Provide expert consultation as needed with clients and staff, in person, by phone or electronically

Requirements

  • MD Pathologist with board certification in Anatomic Pathology
  • Fellowship training and strong experience with gastrointestinal pathology
  • 2-5 years of post-training experience ideally in a high volume laboratory setting
  • Eligibility for CT licensing requirements
  • Proven leadership experience leading other Pathologists is ideal
  • Ability to travel (around 10%) to current as well as potential new clients
  • Current NYDOH qualification/eligibility is preferred
