Biomedical engineer / Laboratory Automations Specialist - Sequenom

The Sequenom division of LabCorp, focused on women's healthcare tests and non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) has an exciting opportunity for Biomedical Engineer (Applications Specialist) to work in its Clinical Laboratory in San Diego. The Biomedical Engineer will be responsible for the calibration, installation, maintenance and general health of instrumentation at Sequenom Laboratories and are the key interface between instrument vendors and the clinical laboratory. Specializing in Systems, Software, Clinical Regulatory or Technical Documentation, this position is responsible for all aspects of product serviceability and technical product documentation throughout product lifecycle.

Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize, evaluate, and respond to incoming support requests on designated instruments from the clinical laboratory
  • Primary point of contact for all instrument service issues
  • Ensure that all necessary maintenance and calibrations are performed within required schedule
  • Build and maintain knowledge and solutions databases for clinical instrumentation
  • Generate clinical regulatory documentation supporting instrument installations, qualifications, and calibrations
  • Attend vendor external and internal technical training for instrument specific repairs
  • Support documentation the clinical laboratory during inspections

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, life science, electronics, computer science, information technology, biotechnology, or related field
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of relevant bioengineering or laboratory automations experience
  • OR Associate's degree in engineering or related field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience
  • Previous experience with Hamilton equipment and/or coding experience highly desired
  • Ability to perform analytical, critical thinking and troubleshooting in time sensitive situations
  • Strong, highly developed analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and understand technical engineering documentation
  • Ability to perform in traditional and virtual teams
  • Computer proficiency in MS office applications, and basic knowledge of Windows OS maintenance
  • Customer focused with commitment to outstanding customer service and drive to increase customer satisfaction
