HR Director

We are recruiting for a Director and HR Partner for LabCorp/Covance IT groups. The position will be located in Burlington, NC but will have responsibility for all of IT throughout North America.

The Director and Sr. HR Partner will be responsible for the following:

  • Partners with business leaders and co-leads the organization through transformational change, translating business strategies into practical people strategies.
  • Designs, develops and leads the implementation of programs for Leading Change, Shaping Cultures and Talent Management
  • Recognized as a credible, influential and adaptable Business and HR leader who has consistently and effectively led and developed teams and delivered results in virtual and complex environments
  • HR Partner, adviser and executive coach to Senior Executives, Business and HR Leaders
  • Senior HR Partner and primary point-of-contact to one or more Executive Leaders at ELT/GLT level
  • Member of respective leadership teams
  • Actively involved in developing functional/operational strategy, strategic initiatives, prioritization and business decisions
  • Develops and deploys HR strategies and solutions to support short and long term business goals
  • Effectively navigates the HR organization to ensure quality and timely delivery of all HR solutions and services to meet Business needs
  • Internal organizational development consultant and executive coach to Business and HR leaders
  • May lead acquisitions, divestitures and expansions for respective business

Essential Job Duties:

  • Builds strong working relationships, underpinned by trust, credibility and respect with business and HR leaders
  • Seeks to understand business strategies and translates into long-term people strategies and agendas
  • Designs and develops short and long-term People strategies with Global HR Partner, HR COEs and business leaders to enable and support the business strategy
  • Input into the development of HR organizational initiatives and priorities
  • Supports HR and Business organizations and cultures to drive innovation, employee engagement, process improvement and commitment to service excellence
  • With business leaders, assist in the diagnosis, structures and strategies to improve business and organizational performance
  • Create and implement effective change strategies to enable the organization to thrive during periods of change
  • As a role model, leads, educates and influences the HR organization to understand the business strategy to pro-actively deliver consistent quality HR services and solutions to meet current and future business needs
  • Oversees local implementation of global and standardized HR processes
  • Ensure BU and HR strategies are aligned with the global and/or regional HR plans and strategies
  • Provide coaching and development practices in support of business strategy and growth agendas
  • Oversee BU execution of core HR process including Talent Management, Development and Performance
  • Actively involved in the recruitment, development, growth and retention of talent
  • Applies consistency and adherence to regulations, compliance, laws, policies, procedures and issue escalation



Minimum Required:

  • Required: Degree and/or HR Certification/qualification (e.g. SHRM/CIPD)
  • Preferred: Advanced degree, MBA


Minimum Required:

  • 10+ Years of HR and/or combination of HR and Business Leadership experience
  • Leadership roles in a minimum of 2 HR disciplines (3 preferred)
  • Including 3+ years as an HR functional leader
  • Management of a small team a plus

Travel required 10-25%
