The Integrated Oncology Division is seeking a Senior Cytogenetics Technologist to join their Cytogenetics team in RTP, NC! Assays performed in the Cytogenetics Department utilize a variety of scientific techniques, including specimen culturing, slide preparation, and chromosome analysis.
Assist the lab operations of the Oncology Cytogenetics Department, including accurate delivery of patient results, continuing education, and positive morale of laboratory staff. Will attend staff meetings.
Process cytogenetic specimens from culture initiation to analysis and karyotype.
Responsible for laboratory performance criteria including:
Delivering patient laboratory results within specified TAT
Assist in planning / scheduling for adequate assay coverage, and troubleshooting / escalating problems, as necessary
Resource for other technologists, train and mentor laboratory testing staff
B.A./B.S. in Cytogenetics, Biology, or relatable life science to include completion of 16 credit hours of Biology, 16 credit hours of Chemistry, and 3 credit hours of Math
ASCP certification in Cytogenetics is required
7 years of experience in a Cytogenetic laboratory required
Minimum of 6 years of experience at the Technologist level, within a Cytogenetic lab required
2 years of experience in a leadership capacity is highly preferred, but not required
