  • Oversee day to day operations of the Laboratory consistent with policies and procedures established by LabCorp and the Hospital
  • Ensures Compliance with Regulatory agencies
  • Recommend an appropriate organizational structure and personnel plan for Laboratory
  • Direct the Laboratory personnel in accordance with standards, policies and procedures of the hospital
  • Assist in training Laboratory personnel
  • Monitors technical performance to maintain competitiveness and analyzes workflow output
  • Develop a Laboratory equipment plan for the laboratory and oversee execution of the equipment plan which includes, preanatlytic, analystic and postanalytic phases of testing.
  • Ensure the establishment and maintenance of acceptable levels of analytical performance for reach test system
  • Develop plans for Supporting reagents, pharmaceutical and medical consumables required to support the test menu and test volume
  • Ensures that service standards of the Laboratory are met
  • Assist in implementing an appropriate information technology plan for effective laboratory information management system.
  • Ensures the quality and quality assurance programs are established and maintained to assure the quality of laboratory services provided and to identify failures in quality as they occur.
  • Assist with preparation of and oversees department budget.
  • Assist in developing a business plan for the Laboratory.
  • Recommend policies and procedures which will promote efficiencies and quality assurance in the laboratory.
  • Interacts with appropriate corporate, regional and subregional departments to ensure the above duties are performed.

Requirements

  • License/Certification/Education: Normally requires a B.A./B.S. Masters preferred
  • 7-10 years of experience in related field
  • 3-5 years of  Director experience 
  • ASCP or AMT certified
  • Requires analysis and evaluation of management information for major decision making in a variety of complex and changing areas.
  • The ability to work with people at all levels.
  • Effective leadership style that optimizes employee contribution to the department and the institution.
  • Possess sufficient technical knowledge to evaluate and make recommendations concerning technical operations.
  • Experience with departmental budgets, inventory, logistics and information systems.
  • Knowledge of sound business practices and problem solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills -- listening, writing, talking, and reading.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work additional hours or shifts and under stress.
