Summary

The Director of Aviation Maintenance located in Burlington, NC is an integral part of a dynamic and expanding Aviation leadership team and is responsible for facilitating and ensuring the success of the Aviation Mechanic Department of an IS-BAO Level III and Fortune 500 company.

This successful leader will be responsible for strategic initiatives and demonstrating key leadership principles to drive successful team outcomes such as:

  • Ensuring compliance to all FAA maintenance regulations and requirements as well as NTSB and ISBAO standards by intentionally seeking and incorporating a variety of diverse perspectives to strategically solve business challenges.
  • Oversee all processes of the Maintenance Departments including Maintenance Control, Parts Department, Line Station Maintenance, Technical Support, Technical Publications, Maintenance Training and Maintenance Records.
  • Develops, manages, and oversees the budget for aircraft maintenance operations across the enterprise.
  • Creating a culture of accountability through communication of clear expectations and high performance standards
  • Coaching, leading and providing development opportunities for Aircraft maintenance team members.
  • Creating an inclusive and trusted environment where collaboration and communication are key.
  • Overseeing the scheduling of aircraft repairs and maintenance while ensuring timely and quality project completion.
  • Promotes safety throughout the organization as mandated through Company policies identified by executive management.
  • The primary FAA contact for matters regarding the Maintenance Department as described in this position description.
  • Responsible to review and approve contracts related to maintenance assets and outsourced vendors.
  • Liaison with outside customers to ensure contractual requirements pertaining to each agreement are executed.

Requirements

License/Certification/ Education:

  • Normally requires an Associate Degree, Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferred
  • FAA Aircraft and Power Plant Mechanics license, required
  • Inspectors Authorization (IA), preferred
  • In lieu of Associate Degree H. S. Diploma or GED equivalent with 12 years of experience as an A&P (Airframe and Power Plant Mechanic)
  • People leadership and management skills

Required Experience, Skills and Abilities

  • 7-10 years of Aircraft Maintenance experience
  • Proven People Leadership Skills with experience leading and coaching aviation team members
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven Interpersonal Communication skills
  • Financial acumen, specifically budgeting
  • Has worked with electronic flight and maintenance record systems
