In July of 2021, Labcorp exercised their option to acquire OmniSeq; a commercial, CAP accredited, CLIA, ISO 13485:2016 and NY State CLEP licensed clinical laboratory in Buffalo, NY. We utilize next generation sequencing (NGS) technologies through a NYS CLEP approved comprehensive molecular profiling panel. Our team is growing and excited to now operate as a critical piece of the Labcorp mission to improve health and improve lives by connecting insights from patients, practitioners, clinical trials, health systems and managed care partners through the promise of precision medicine.
The Technologist Trainee/Technologist will be a part of Molecular/NGS department. The work schedule for this position will be Monday-Friday 8:00 am-4:30 pm.
Prepares and examines specimens using a variety of instruments, histologic and molecular diagnostic techniques.
Sets up and works with laboratory equipment in order to test tissue, blood and blood parts for various indicators of clinical conditions.
Utilizes analysis software for QC monitoring, report interpretation and generation.
Utilizes Laboratory Information Management System for tracking, documenting and reporting patient test results.
Assists in the training and education of employees/students to explain and demonstrate testing procedures and standard operating procedures.
Provides input to enhance standard operating procedures.
Maintains a safe and well-stocked work environment; validates reagents, instruments and procedures.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety and compliance standards.
Involved in relevant quality control and continuous quality improvement activities, the performance of calibration and maintenance procedures.
Enhances professional growth and development by participating in educational programs, reading current literature and participating in in-service meetings and workshops.
Prepares other written documentation as required by the profession and the department; maintains, distributes, analyzes and projects information for required records, reports and statistics as directed.
Attends meetings as required.

Must beNYS State licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (CLT) or hold a Clinical Laboratory Technologist - Restricted Licensefor Molecular, not during one-year training toward restricted license
BS in MT/CLS, or related fields.
Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required for Technologist level
Previous experience is not required at the Technologist Trainee level
PCR and/or NGS experience is preferred
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
