The work schedule for this position will be Tuesday - Saturday, 9:00am - 5:30pm
Performs all high-complexity testing in the Department of Molecular Pathology with minimal supervision.
Identifies problems in department laboratory and operating systems and institutes appropriate corrective actions.
Analyzes test data and quality control documents, and prepares draft reports for Molecular Pathologist Director/Supervisor to review.
Actively participates in the department quality programs and adheres to policies and procedures developed for the department.
Performs all molecular-based test procedures used in the department with minimum supervision.
Participates in proficiency tests.
Prepares reagents according to provisions of the Reagent Manual.
Operates and maintains equipment according to provisions of the Equipment Manual.
Reports any problems with test procedures directly to the supervisor of the department.
Participates in the validation of new test systems in the department.
Analyzes test data and prepares draft reports to present to the supervisor of the department.
Assists Molecular Technicians in daily lab operations.
Answers technical questions from clients or refers to supervisor.
Assists in the maintenance of the laboratory Quality system.
Reviews Standard Operating Procedures.
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology or a related science
Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience
ASCP certification preferred
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
